 <link>http://www.phpalbum.net/node/1704</link>
 <description>php version 5.3x

I&#039;ve received the following error message while running php 5.3x. Downgrading to v5.2x has resolved the issue.

Warning: date() [function.date]: It is not safe to rely on the system&#039;s timezone settings. You are *required* to use the date.timezone setting or the date_default_timezone_set() function. In case you used any of those methods and you are still getting this warning, you most likely misspelled the timezone identifier. We selected &#039;America/New_York&#039; for &#039;EDT/-4.0/DST&#039; instead in /home/www/album/main.php on line 99

<description>Hi, I&#039;m reading installation instructions and am confused by the suggested directory structure. Let&#039;s say for my string I pick &quot;img.&quot; Should it be like this?

phpalbum/img
phpalbum/data_img
phpalbum/cache_img

or like this?
phpalbum/img
phpalbum/cache_img

Please clarify. Thanks!

 <link>http://www.phpalbum.net/node/1639</link>
 <description>Hi,

A lot of my jpeg are 2MB and more, for some reason the Thumbnail is nto working, I had to add this line into the main.php file.

ini_set(&#039;memory_limit&#039;, &#039;64M&#039;);

Can you add this as a perm fix on the next version? Thanks.</description>

 <title>Memory leak</title>
 <link>http://www.phpalbum.net/node/1632</link>
<description>We have a fairly large amount of images (27G, 12631 files). Using the scan directory (or worse, the automated scanning runs once per day) the memory is leaking and php runs out of memory.
I have a guess for the leaking:
The database queries always use create_function for the where and order by clauses. This way it creates an enormous amount of functions that fill up the memory (ref.: http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=6333).
I gave a shot implementing some caching, but most of the orders, sets and wheres are unique, so it did not make much sense.

Edit:
PHP Version 5.2.6-1+lenny4

<title>add support for symbolic links for files and directories on Linux boxes</title>
 <link>http://www.phpalbum.net/node/1587</link>
 <description>Hello,
I&#039;ve installed the latest phpAlbum software on my Linux box. By default all photos are placed outside the webserver structure. To prevent unnecessary copies of my photos I created symbolic links to the directories which should be accessible via phpAlbum.
Unfortunately the php code seems to always reference to files and directories (function: file_exists) and doesn&#039;t allow to use symbolic links. The phpAlbum code should be able to follow symbolic links (extended by function: is_link) for directories and also for files.

 <title>National characters</title>
 <link>http://www.phpalbum.net/node/1577</link>
<description>I am Danish and would like to use our national characters æøå and ÆØÅ (I don&#039;t know, how they look like at your place). Now I use EN_ISO8859_1 but there must by a set like DA_ISO8859_1 or DK_ISO8859_1. How to do that ?
Else I have to say that the installation was easy and it looks fine, but it tooks its time to scan all about 6500 photos in full format (in fact the server gaveup), but I have them all in a lesser format (1024*768) and that&#039;s fine.

Best Regards
