Ok,, I'm just Not getting it???
I uploaded the zip file and unpacked it...
Renamed my file to config.php
Changed path inside config.
$data_dir="/photo/phpAlbum_v0.4.1.14_fix02/config.php"; /* !!strongly recommended to use some other directory (security issues)*/
what should my phpdatabase.php be set at:
$db_version="0.2";
$db_system_file="";
$db_tabs_file="";
$db_up="";
$db_data_dir="";
$db_error="";
$db_error_text="";
Im lost on this set up...

This could be problematic
This could be problematic now Mike,
as for being able to upload photos you have to have ftp password. This is where PA is not really good in it. I hope I can change it in next version but I still do not have concept for it, and have no idea what it should be like ...
How exactly would you like to have it... does it matter where photos will be posted? Every user should have their own subdirectory (should this be created on Registration). Or should there be always some admin who approve and assign uploaded photos to some directories?

I don't think you have to
I don't think you have to change anything in phpdatabase.php.
when I look at my phpdatabase.php I find the same values you have given and it works, so don't change anything would be my advise.

phpAlbum doesn't use a mysql
phpAlbum doesn't use a mysql database. When you follow the steps given at http://www.phpalbum.net/node/443 it should be a piece of cake.

Im lost here...
. Open this file in editor (notepad) and change the only setting you have there to the directory you will have to have the data. Recommended is to use some special directory names like data_xyz34jk/ so nobody can know it. Note that the slash on the end of the string is mandatory
Now upload all the files in your phpAlbum directory on your webserver
phpAlbum needs two writable directories, the data_xyz34jk/ and the cache_xyz34jk/. Create these in your phpAlbum directory on web server and change the attributes so that the web server user under which is php running can write to these directories. Usually you need to change CHMOD to 777 (rwxrwxrwx).
Note that the xyz34jk suffix should be some random string, not this example! J

Did you already try our installer? It installs PA for your in with few clicks. All you need is FTP access to your site.
If it does not help you, you can send me your ftp account info I could install it for you ...

That you can find at the
That you can find at the installation page of the documentation (http://www.phpalbum.net/node/443). But to help you, just admin as user and admin as password.
And then at the my account page you can change it to the desired username and password. Write it down in case you forget it. There are solutions to reset the password by modifying album_user.php which is placed in data directory. Find your user record in array where 'name' => 'Your username'. You'll see there also the password with encrypted password. Change that line to 'password' => '21232f297a57a5a743894a0e4a801fc3'.
This all you could find by using the search option on this forum.

ok,, I got in,,, Maybe this isent what I thought it was?
I wanted a site where others can upload their pics and make albums.
Log in and upload, search etc.
Also I put in a home page url, and yet the link dosent work on the menu bar.
Can you help?

I think you placed http:// in front of it. However that is not necessary. phpAlbum puts it in front of it.
About your other question, you have to enable the ftp-option otherwise it isn't possible to let an user upload images. But how to handle it further on I don't know.
