Merging Photo Album to Match Look of existing site

I'm helping a relative set up a website for his photography, and I really like phpAlbum! My challenge is to get the Album to look like the rest of his site.

His site is:

And I have a phpAlbum temporarily at

As you can see the looks are totally different.

Could you please point me in the right direction? How much can I accomplish with styles? Which styles do I need to be modifying? Is there already documentation on this? I'd love for the navigation toolbar on the main site to point to the different directories of pictures, but don't know if I can do that.

Thanks again for all your help, and enjoy your time with your son!

Hi, sorry but there is still

sorry but there is still no docu for this, but it is not that hard to change it.

All you have to do is to edit album.tpl.php and imageview.tpl.php and put there your html code. The files are in the themes/Flowing_dark or themes/borders subdirectory of phpAlbum main dir.

There is all main page html code. there are some smaller template files defining look of thumbnails and so on ...

You can just put there the html code of your header and footer in album.tpl.php and imageview.tpl.php and that's it. May be some color changes ... just try it you will is it is not that complicated.

Patrik, Thank you for your

Thank you for your quick reply and help! I'm quite excited as to how well phpAlbum integrates into a current site. Take a look at the site now. ( and click on one of the subject headings.) In less than an hour I was able to make phpAlbum look like an integral part of the site. This is so cool!

I still have some clean up I need to do and work out the caching and all.

I do have one more question although. I seem to have lost the flowing of the thumbnails. Now they are appearing only one to a row. I would really like them to appear two to three to a row. Any idea what's wrong? I have the settings set for flowing. When I switch to raster I can get my columns back, but not for Flowing.

Thanks again for all your help and tremendous work!

Hi Terry, very well done :)

Hi Terry,

very well done :) i see i will have to do some documentation about it so others can do this also ... this is how i was thinking about it. Not to integrate the phpAlbum in some site but integrate the site into the phpAlbum :)

back to your question, if you want use the flowing style, you must preserve that all thumbnails (not the pictures but the whole thing around it, i.e. the top most table in thmb.tpl.php file) have exactly the same height. That is why i have there som reserve for picture description. if it is not enough you have to make it bigger. There is now $height+4 you can make it +10 or +20, you have to test it and check which value is good for you ...

in the newer beta version you can change that out of setup menu ...

p.s. let me know when you have finished it ..

Hi, Patrik, I'm finished for

Hi, Patrik,

I'm finished for now. :-) I'm having a bit of a problem with the way IE used to cut off the right side of the 3rd column in Album View, so I changed a div tag to display the overflow. I'm still learning about div tags, so I hope to get more of the page to expand as well if necessary. Firefox had no problem displaying the 3 by 3 table.

I tried adding $height (even go all the way up to 50 and 100!) but couldn't get it to do anything but one picture per row.
