Released phpAlbum v0.4.1 Beta7
So today i decided to release beta version of the new almost fully reprogrammed phpAlbum.
Not everything is implemented what is planned for the new release but it is almost complete.
Still missing some type of welcome-frontpage , album comments and voting. Bit it will come soon.
So until there you can use this new version, if you find some bugs please report it here as comment to this article not in the forum. For new features or some good ideas you can still use the forum.
Installation is almost the same as for the old version. You still need writable data and cache directory. Before comming to the setup you have to log in. Username and password is admin / admin. So it is recomended to change the password after first login. The whole setup is self-documented so it should be easy to use it and explore the new functions.
Update from old version is not possible so you will loos all your comments and descriptions. This will be hopefully changed with official release. And also please note that there will be no possibility to automatic update to newer version from this one as this is only a beta version. You will always have to reset the database with deleting evrything from data dir.
And no there is still no new theme but there will be some with official release planned for end of september. Next 2-3 weeks i will be not able to do any changes, but you can still report bugs...

Two bugs
I really like this new version over the old one BUT:
1. unchecking the box to disallow commenting on a picture does not disallow commenting.
2. a transparent png watermark graphic did not show up transparent.
View and comments counts
Views and comments counts don't working correctly. I see right views and comments counts when click thumbs, but when i go to root and back again to album, counts down to zero. On local server script working right.

Beta not working
After manual install empty page comes.
After I change it to cmd=setup a nearly empty page is loaded:

also when using both the old version-both the new version the imagecreatefromjpeg runs into PHP memory limit.

Admin Panel not working
I installed Beta7 on my site. When I logged in, everything seemed fine. But, when I clicked "Setup", it brought me to the "Register" page. I can find no way to access the setup.

Use smaller images, or raise the limit in your PHP installation, there is no other workaround on this issue...

Can not login to Admin Panel
Hi,
First of all BIG BIG THANKS for such a wonderful script. I am playing with it to create a new theme to match our bowling team pictures for intranet. But a problem I am facing is I can not use the admin panel. Same symptom as above, it brings me to register page. I reinstalled, it worked, but when I logged of, it happened again. Any Idea how I can directly go to the login screen? I tried main.php?cmd=setup, main.php?cmd=setup&var1=login, main.php?cmd=setup&var1=admin etc. The gallery works flawlessly by the way.

The copyright doesn't work when you select "Resize only if bigger" or with images smaller than 350px x 263px in the original size (in the others it works perfect)

If you click resize only if bigger, there is no resizing made and also no manipulation to the picture that is why no copyright appears. I see this is a bug. I will change that. Thanx for posting :)

Under "main setup"/"Site name:" if you specify a text with a ' in it, the following error occurs:

hi! the first thing is that you will need a better installation guide, I think many people has big problem with just the installation.
And you cant use an image as background!

Default sorting
The Default sorting-function on the Main Setup-page doesnt't work. All my pictures are unsorted.
If I use the sorting-function on the Galleries-page (for every individual directory), then the sorting-function work's.

1. Photo Parameter
If you set a default value with a " it is destroying the textbox of default value.
2. 'Lock' albums
You can albums that are 'locked' just by using the URL.
Idea
Moderators, people who have access to just one or two directories to change the descriptions but only that. So they can't edit Main Setup and stuff pictures
Btw I started on a dutch translation of the language file, so is there some place i could drop it so others can download it.

I installed php-album yesterday (v0.4.1 Beta2).
I didn't manage to install it correctly manually, but the automatic installer is great (and it works).
Now some layout stuff has to be fixed, but I'm quite happy with this album up to now :)
