No album links. Subdirectories not showing up as galleries or albums

I have a phpalbum install here - http://riftwave.net/phpalbum/

Images in the root of the designated photo folder show up on the main page correctly.

However, I have two subdirectories and no gallery thumbnails or gallery links to the subfolders show up on the main page.

Going into the set-up and selecting gallery thumbnails does not seem to help.

Images do show up under "new images" and direct links to albums seem to function
