New Style: Clear_White / Clear_Black

Hi folks,

after testing Galleries like "Gallery" and Coppermine (oh man, those ones really suck... ("u-s-a-b-i-l-i-t-y") or maybe i'm just to nub to handle them ._. ) and some local gallery-builder i found out phpAlbum to be the most suitable app for my needs.
But since i wasnt very happy with the two available styles i thought i could make a new one...
I wanted to have a clean center-focused monochrome style to get maximum attention on the gallery pictures - so here we go:

Major Changes / Features:
1st: I wanted to have Sub-Galleries without thumbs in their main folders. But(in current phpAlbum version) if you dont put a picture into each folder/gallery you wont be able to set a thumbnail for that folder displayed one level above... (or is this possible somehow? pm me!) anyway i modified the engine.php(sorry patrik) so that if a gallery contains only 1 picture, this picture wont be displayed as thumb but can be selected to be a thumbimage for that folders icon.
2nd: I liked that Flowing-Style(Thumb arrangement) but not its behaviour when there is still some space left, but not enough to put thumbs there - then the whole block of thumbs visually gets shifted left - ugly one. On the other side the Raster-Style looks quite ugly if you got only a few pictures in a gallery, but quite some large numbers on those column/row count settings. So i modified the engine.php (again so sorry^^) and put in some flowing-auto-arrange-thumbs-logic for that Raster-Style. For example if you got about 8 images in a 6/4 rastered gallery, you'll now get no ugly 6+2 block but a wellformed 3+3+2 one.
2nd.1: same stuff for galleries/(sub)directories
3rd: horizontal floating raster / dynamic thumb/directory distances - the thumbs raster now spreads over most of the given space and squeeze the space between thumbs before showing scrollbars if u downsize the browserwindow or view on lower resolutions.

uhm.. what else.. ?

ah: every beauty has its flaws - you HAVE to set "Raster Style" as Thumbnails arrangement in themes-settings - the engine.php mods fucked up FlowStyle - so BE SURE to BACKUP your engine.php before testing this style. I'm sorry, but i'm too much the php nub to fix this :(
AND of course: due to the engine.php mods this style might only work with the current version of phpAlbum - but i commented the changes with a "- Clear_White modification -" tag so they should be easy to find / adapt / remove / fix or whatever^^
PLUS: known bug: due to the 1-picture-not-displayed feature there might occur gallery-(next)-pages without thumbs - if that last page would only have 1 thumb... it has none - no problem.. just watch your image count in galleries and your row/col settings^^
(maybe there is a way to check on $dirs count to on zero disable the 1picture-disabler ..bla)

too much talk - here's the wanted stuff:

(screenshots inside)

///////////////////////////////////////////////////

I recommend the folling settings when using this style:
gallery thumb size: 200
squary gallery thumbs: enabled
size of picture border: 1
size of thumb border: 1
thumbnail style: RASTER STYLE !!!
row/col: 4 or 5 on row; col as u like (vertical scollbars or not)
thumbnail size: 180

color settings(for style like shown on screenshots):
black: background:000000 link:DDDDDD dirdesc:AAAAAA photoborder:333333 photodesc: DDDDDD logo:DDDDDD

white: background:FFFFFF link:464646 dirdesc:777777 photoborder:AAAAAA photodesc: 464646 logo:464646

///////////////////////////////////////////////////

Stylemodifications tested with IE8 and GChrome engine (browser: SRWare's Iron) - hope it'll work with FF Opera, too.

Last one: I am the totally fucking php noob - this was my first time ever modifying a php script, so dont take a look too close^^ And: I do not like php! (<3 C++/C# <3)

Anyways.. have fun with this style - hope u like it!
For modifications, bugfixes whatever - DONT ask me.

Sorry for that crappy english

Greetings from Germany,
Christian

to disable it remove the following lines from engine.php (textsearch for one of the lines or for "- Clear_White modification -" section):
$cntx = count($thmbs);
if($cntx == 1) return null;

Chistian, Thanks for your theme, I like the Album page, however when I click an Album the pictures are displayed one to a line in the center of the page, is that how it's intended or am I missing a setting.

Thanks,

Hi Bob,

no it's not (thats what i meant with "fucked up flowing-style" up there) and yes you missed to set the "Thumbnails Style" to "Raster style" (not flowing style!!) as i recommended in my first post..
since the Raster style now has some flowing behaviour you wont miss anything changing that setting ;)

greetings

Thank's for your help!

I thought I had changed that, guess I didn't save the configuration.

Thanks again.
Bob
