blank page after install

I am having a problem after the installation of phpalbum and that is when i go to my http://localhost/phpalbum/main.php I get a blank page displayed. What is the common problems that would cause this situation. I created the two folders "data_jasonpic and cache_jasonpic" then chmod both to 777. Is there something that I am forgetting or did wrong. Let me know if there is any more info need to help with this problem
